There’s Edmund. Edmund Hale, another body-possessing demon, one Henry the angel called a friend before the Fall and during the War. Henry Black, as a mortal, met Edmund because he was much too curious for his own good.
There’s Phillip Black. Henry’s mortal little brother. Not so little anymore (and whether they can still be called brothers is arguable), but every single protective instinct of Henry’s remains.
There’s Malik Sadik, who was the wrong guy at the wrong time. Or possibly not. Either way, he’s become an anomaly and Henry needs to figure him out because neither part of him can let a “how” go unanswered.
There’s Mae, the assistant librarian. Henry and Mae met thanks to library bureaucracy, but their relationship soon grew beyond the simple submission of triplicate forms requesting impossible book loans.
And there’s a whole bunch of other people, but they aren’t quite as important to Henry so you’ll have to meet them in the book
